Otoplasty (Ear Surgery)
Otoplasty (Ear Surgery) Treatment & Technique
In performing otoplasty surgery, Dr. Chasan will make an incision in the fold behind the ear and remove excess cartilage and skin from the earlobe in order to make a natural ear shape.
Dr. Chasan will then pin the modified parts to existing structures of the ear in order to keep them in place. The recovery period for ear surgery is about 7 days and patients often find once the head dressings are removed they see a significant difference in their appearance and self-esteem.
Dr. Chasan achieves a great otoplasty result by setting back the ears so they appear natural and proportionate to the head. Once corrected, ears appear normal, from the front, rear, and side. Although performed mostly on adults, Dr. Chasan often performs otoplasty surgery on children as young as six years old.
