Lip Fillers in San Diego

Juvéderm Vollure XC and Restylane add several aesthetic qualities to the face and provides solutions to a patient’s cosmetic concerns. While these minimally invasive cosmetic injections are mostly safe, patients should consult a reputable plastic surgeon to determine if lip injections are right for them.

In this article, Dr. Paul E. Chasan, a board certified plastic surgeon in San Diego, discusses the lip fillers Juvéderm Vollure XC and Restylane including what you should consider before getting lip injections, the cost, and before and after results of lip fillers.

What are Lip Fillers?

Juvéderm Vollure XC and Restylane are Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal fillers that increase volume in the lips resulting in a plumper, smoother mouth. According to a 2018 guide from The American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, “Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that is already found in the skin.” Lip fillers are a minimally invasive procedure that posses few risks to the patient.

Juvéderm Vollure XC and Restylane are FDA-approved for lip injections which smooth moderate to several lines in the lips as well as replenish volume to the lips. Lip fillers can “last between 4 to 6 months but injections in the lips usually wear out faster than those in the face,” states a 2018 guide from The American Board of Cosmetic Surgery.

Juvéderm Vollure XC

Juvéderm Vollure XC is a dermal filler that is FDA-approved to be injected in the lips. One of the main benefits of Juvéderm Vollure XC is that it can last longer. It smooths and plumps lips that are thin or wrinkled.

Restylane

Like most Hyaluronic Acid dermal fillers, Restylane is an FDA-approved lip augmentation injection that restores or increases volume in the lips. A 2018 report from Nestle Skin Health states, “Restylane last about 6 months in the average patient.”

Risk and Side Effects

Like most minimally invasive cosmetic procedures, Juvéderm Vollure XC and Restylane offer patients minor pain, little to no downtime, and few risks. The most common side effects of all dermal fillers are temporary bruising, swelling, and pain. In rare cases, cosmetic injections can be accidentally injected into surrounding tissue which can have permanent effects. However, Dr. Paul E. Chasan is familiar with these risks and how to avoid them as any qualified plastic surgeon should be.

Lip Fillers On Thin Lips

Genetics and age play a key role in the shape and size of your lips but with minimally invasive lip fillers like Juvéderm Vollure XC and Restylane, those with thin or wrinkled lips can achieve a more aesthetic and balanced mouth.

Lip fillers offer patients several cosmetic and practical benefits. A 2018 article published by WebMD states, “lip injections allow patients and plastic surgeons to control lip volume, patients can receive several treatments until the desired volume is achieved, and bumps dissolve easily.”

Lip Fillers Before and After

The outcomes achieved from lip fillers depend on several factors including the patient’s goals and unique dermal structure. If you’re considering lip fillers in San Diego, the most important decision you can make is selecting an experienced plastic surgeon and medical staff. We would be happy to help you, as our team of medical professionals has the background and experience to get you the best results.

Your plastic surgeon should help you choose a lip augmentation procedure (whether it’s several types of lip fillers or one) that will give you aesthetic outcomes that accentuate your distinct features. In addition, the most satisfied patients receive lip filler injections that make their lips look natural and balance well with their other features.

Cost Or Price Of Lip Fillers

The average cost of Hyaluronic Acid lip fillers according to a guide from The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery is $651 per treatment. Patients may need more than one treatment to achieve their desired volume. Non-Hyaluronic Acid fillers tend to last longer than other lip injections, making them more cost efficient than similar options.

At Ranch and Coast Plastic Surgery and Medical Spa we believe lip augmentation is a personal decision and we are glad to help guide you through that decision. Dr. Paul E. Chasan and his veteran injectable nurse are always happy to help you with Juvéderm Vollure XC and Restylane lip fillers or just a consult.
